Educational philosophy

My name is Jonathan Guthrie and I’m known to our students as “Mr Jon”. I come from England and have been living and teaching in Hong Kong since 2007. I joined Sam Shui Natives Association Huen King Wing School in 2013.

In my time at this school I have really enjoyed teaching the different age groups and I take great satisfaction from seeing the children having fun while learning English. We introduced the Education Bureau’s Primary Literacy Programme – Reading & Writing in September 2014 and have found the children making incredible progress in their English learning.

My experience in Hong Kong has been truly inspiring, and I hope to teach here for many years to come!
